Clinical and medico-legal experience
I am a practising general dental practitioner and dental expert witness with long-standing experience in clinical dentistry and medico-legal reporting.
My expert witness work includes condition and prognosis reports, breach of duty and causation opinions, screening reviews, replies to CPR 35 questions and joint expert work in dental clinical negligence and personal injury matters. A full breakdown of the case types I accept instructions in is available separately.
My clinical background as a general dental practitioner is central to my expert work. I am regularly involved in treatment planning, restorative decision-making, dental records, consent, prognosis and the practical realities of dental care in general practice.
Approach to expert evidence
My reports are intended to be clear, balanced and useful to the Court. I aim to identify the relevant dental issues, distinguish between what is supported by the evidence and what remains uncertain, and provide proportionate opinion within my area of expertise.
Where the evidence is incomplete, unclear or conflicting, I say so. Where an opinion depends on assumptions, those assumptions are identified.
Jurisdictions
I have accepted dental expert instructions from solicitors in England and Wales and the Republic of Ireland, where I have produced a number of expert reports. I have also accepted instructions arising in Jersey, the Isle of Man and the Cayman Islands. I am available to consider appropriate instructions from other English-speaking common-law jurisdictions, subject to the applicable local legal and procedural framework and the issues falling within my clinical expertise.
I adapt my reports to the applicable local procedural requirements and distinguish clearly between clinical opinion and matters of local law.
